Aberdeen Festivals Collective

Aberdeen is renowned for a series of “edgy” festivals; festivals that aren’t quite like anything you can see anywhere else.

Aberdeen Festivals Collective is a new group formed to sustain, further develop and promote Aberdeen’s vibrant and distinctive festivals offering.  You’ll be hearing more about the Collective and its work in the next few months but in the meantime read below about some of the wonderful festivals that take place each year in and around Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen Festivals Collective is made up of nine members, these are: Aberdeen Jazz Festival, Arts Across Learning Festival, May Festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Fifty Plus Festival, Techfest, Dancelive, North East Open Studios (NEOS) and sound


The Aberdeen Jazz Festival comprises of six days packed with musical excitement from across the jazz and blues spectrum.

sound festival is dedicted to making new music more accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.  It embraces a network of local organisations to produce a varied programme of events exploring new music.


DanceLive is an annual festival celebrating contemporary dance, and is Scotland's only festival presenting contemporary dance.


Aberdeen International Youth Festival, which is a truly international event, with participants travelling from all four corners of the globe to take part that is also committed to supporting emerging talent from across Scotland and the rest of the UK. The 2014 festival will be held on July 25th until August 2nd.

Poetry, science and everything else...

May Festival: Over the 29th - 31st May 2015, the Festival will showcase the many strengths of the University with events in science, music, literature, film, Gaelic, and health and wellbeing. The Festival offers something for all ages and interests.  Events take place in a range of venues across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire making it accessible to everyone.

TechFest in September is Aberdeen's annual festival of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and is widely acknowledged as a major event in the annual calendar of the region.  This year's event takes place from September 6th - 26th 2014.

North East Open Studios (NEOS) is an award winning collective of artists, makers and designers based in the North East of Scotland.

50+ Festival brings you a fortnight of family events across the city from fun days to jazz concerts.

The Arts Across Learning Festival is an annual schools-focused cultural festival and has built a strong reputation since its beginnings in 1999 as the Aberdeen Storytelling and Theatre Festival.
