Aberdeen Festivals

Aberdeen is renowned for a series of “edgy” festivals; festivals that aren’t quite like anything you can see anywhere else.


The Aberdeen Jazz Festival comprises of six days packed with musical excitement from across the jazz and blues spectrum.  In 2013 the festival expanded further from the festival's heart at The Blue Lamp, with concerts for the first time in The Beach Ballroom, The Forum and The Tunnels.  The programme for the 2014 festival is currently being announced, for more information see www.aberdeenjazzfestival.com.

Wizard Festival is set to make a return in 2014.  The north-east's biggest music festival is a two-day event which is set to see music fans flocking to the New Deer showground, around a 1-hour drive north of the city.

DanceLive is an annual festival celebrating contemporary dance, and is Scotland's only festival presenting contemporary dance.

Food and Drink...

CAMRA's Great Grampian Beer Festival takes place in May at Pittodrie.  The Festival is open to the public from May 29th - 31st, a celebration of real ale.

Stonehaven Beer Festival has been a sell out success for five years running.  The three-day event, usually in Novemeber, featuring more than 60 of the finest craft beers and real ales from around Scotland and the rest of the UK, as well as a wide range of Belgian beers.  To find out more visit, www.stonehavenrealalefestival.co.uk

Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival:  2014 is going to be a fantastic festival - as the launch event for Homecoming Scotland's Whisky Month plans are well underway to make this year one to remember.  For more details vist, www.spiritofspeyside.com.


Aberdeen International Youth Festival, which is a truly international event, with participants travelling from all four corners of the globe to take part that is also committed to supporting emerging talent from across Scotland and the rest of the UK. The 2014 festival will be held on July 25th until August 2nd.

Granite, launched with a blast of 40,000 tonnes of the stuff in 2013, that gives a chance to discover Aberdeen's unique granite heritage and learn more about the part granite plays in the city and surrounding areas today.
